Bring rich fragrance and year-round green to your garden with the classic Cape-jasmine.
Cape-jasmine is a slow-growing evergreen shrub native to the warm temperate and subtropical regions of East Asia. This plant naturally forms a rounded, bushy shape that reaches one to two and a half meters in height. It makes an excellent addition to outdoor shrub borders, fits well in containers, and can even be grown indoors.
Growing this shrub requires a moderate level of care, as it needs high watering and is not drought tolerant. It thrives in either full sun or partial shade, making it a great companion for moisture-loving plants like camellias, azaleas, and ferns. Pet owners should be cautious, however, as this plant is toxic to pets.
The true reward of this plant is its intensely fragrant white flowers, which bloom from late spring to mid-summer. These beautiful blossoms naturally attract beneficial garden visitors like bees, butterflies, and moths. You can also propagate, or start new plants, by taking simple cuttings from your shrub.
