Gomphrena-weed

Meet a low-growing ground cover that thrives where other plants struggle.

Gomphrena-weed is a low-growing perennial herb that forms dense mats of leafy stems close to the ground. It stays very short, reaching heights between five and twenty centimeters. This plant sits perfectly in sunny, sandy spots or open garden areas where other ground covers might struggle.

Growing this resilient herb is exceptionally easy because it thrives on low watering and full sun. It spreads quickly using its long taproots and creeping stems to fill empty spaces. You will not need to worry about heat or dry spells, as this plant is highly drought-tolerant.

During the summer, the plant produces lovely white, cylindrical flower heads atop its stems. These summer blooms are highly attractive to local bees and butterflies. It also pairs beautifully with companion plants like creeping thyme, gazania, and moss rose.
